The visit
Nothing in a wine cabinet runs below freezing, so there is no defrost cycle to force and no frost to read. What tells the story here is temperature over time: a probe of ours left in each zone and logged through a full cooling cycle, against what the panel reports. Then the condenser, which in a cabinet built into joinery collects dust faster than anyone expects, the fans that move air over and through it, the glass door and its seal along every edge, and the sensor that the control is actually listening to.
A zone that will not hold usually comes back to one of those, and you get the log and one parts-and-labour figure before anything is opened. When the readings do point at the refrigerant circuit, that work is EPA 608 certified and quoted on its own, never slipped into a smaller job.
